RULES for IIDX: Tournament Edition III

General Rules ::

The following rules apply to all entries.

1. Entries must not contain profanity, reference to illegal or illicit activity, or deface or defame any person or group of people. [Small amount of cursing is excusable by judge.]

2. Entries missing the required entry form may not be judged.

3. Entrants can only enter twice in each category, either as an individual or a group.

4. All entries must be compressed in .zip or .rar format.

5. All entries must contain a 7-key Normal and Hyper keychart. All other charts are considered extra. [Unless otherwise stated in specific rules.]

6. All entries must be no less than 1:15 in total length. [Excusable by judge.]

7. If an entry does not meet these or any other guidelines mentioned below, the entry may still be judged, but points will be deducted.

 

Specific Rules ::

beatmania IIDX RESPECT -

1. Only songs remixed from a beatmania game (5- and 7-key) will be judged in this category.

2. Entries must not contain more than five (5) samples from the original song.

3. MP3 Quality -

a. If entry is not keysounded, the MP3 must be rendered at 160Kbps.

b. If the entry is keysounded and uses an MP3 background track, then that MP3 must be rendered at 160Kbps.

4. Acceptable keychart types are as follows:

5 KEY - Normal, Hyper, Another

7 KEY - Beginner, Normal, Hyper, Another

10 KEY - Normal, Hyper, Another

14 KEY - Normal, Hyper, Another

5. Entries must be no longer than 2:30 in playable length.

 

VJ ARMY -

1. Only animations will be judged in this category.

2. Entries are not required to have a complete notechart, only the animation.

3. If an entry already has a video - from a bemani game or otherwise - no part of that video can be used.

4. If the entry uses video, it must be in a format that all simulators can use. [Preferably .avi.]

5. Entries must be no longer than 3:00 in total length.

 

FREE-FOR-ALL -

1. Entries that are remixes of a song from a beatmania or beatmania IIDX game will not be judged.

2. Entries must be no longer than 2:30 in total length.

3. MP3 Quality -

a. If entry is not keysounded, the MP3 must be rendered at 160Kbps.

b. If the entry is keysounded and uses an MP3 background track, then that MP3 must be rendered at 160Kbps.

4. Acceptable keychart types are as follows:

5 KEY - Normal, Hyper, Another

7 KEY - Beginner, Normal, Hyper, Another

10 KEY - Normal, Hyper, Another

14 KEY - Normal, Hyper, Another

 

 

SCORING ::

Scoring will be based on the following guidelines. There will be 4 judges and a public fourm score via outphase.com. All four scores will be averaged, bonuses will be applied and the final scores released.

beatmania IIDX RESPECT-

Scoring for this category will be based on the following factors.

1. Entrant's ability to follow the aforementioned guidelines. [5%]

2. Song - [60%]

a. Quality - How well is the song made and how pleasing/entertaining is it to hear? [25%]

b. Originality - How different is this entry compared to all other entries? [25%]

c. Relationship to Original - How well does the song compare to the original work? [10%]

3. Notecharts - [35%]

a. Quality - How well does the notechart capture the style of the song? [15%]

b. Originality - What makes this notechart stand out from other charts? [10%]

c. Appropriateness - Does this chart have notes that don't belong or are impossible to play? [10%]

4. Bonuses -

- Keysounded entries earn a bonus of 5%.

- Any of the following will raise the score of the entry by the stated amount.

Each additional chart - .5%

Background Animation - .5% to 3%

 

VJ ARMY -

Scoring for this category will be based on the following factors.

1. Entrant's ability to follow the aforementioned guidelines. [5%]

2. Animation - [95%]

a. Quality -Is the animation in sync with the song? [35%]

b. Originality - Does the entry distinguish itself from other entries? [35%]

c. Appropriateness - Does animation correlate with the song? [25%]

3. No bonuses will be awarded.

 

FREE-FOR-ALL -

Scoring for this category will be based on the following factors.

1. Entrant's ability to follow the aforementioned guidelines. [5%]

2. Song - [60%]

a. Quality - How well is the song made and how pleasing/entertaining is it to hear? [35%]

b. Originality - How different is this entry compared to all other entries? [25%]

3. Notecharts - [35%]

a. Quality - How well does the notechart capture the style of the song? [15%]

b. Originality - What makes this notechart stand out from other charts? [10%]

c. Appropriateness - Does this chart have notes that don't belong or are impossible to play? [10%]

4. Bonuses -

- Keysounded entries earn a bonus of 5%.

- Any of the following will raise the score of the entry by the stated amount

Each additional chart - .5%

Background Animation - .5% to 3%

 

 

Notes ::

- If the title, genre, or artist/group name is in a language other than English, please provide a romanization and translation of the words or phrases.

- When entering your genre into the BMS file, make sure it is in ALL CAPS.

- If the entrants have been banned from outphase.com, they are also banned from this contest.

- Claiming someone's work - in video, audio, or otherwise - will entail immediate disqualification from IIDX: Tournament Edition III and any future IIDX: Tournament Edition events.

- Once an entry is submitted, they cannot be re-edited. Submitted entries are final.

- Any and all rules are subject to change at the discretion of the judges with or without notification of the entrants.
